I am Remi. I am the daughter of an Assamese (NE India) mother and a Nigerian father, so I have an innate sensitivity to the principles and importance of diversity and inclusion.
My parents were well educated and aspirational immigrants who met and married in 1970s London, and worked hard to ensure their kids had the best start. Being an unusual mix, culturally different and having to assimilate, was in hindsight an initial test of my early strategic and leadership skills.
Thankfully my beautiful late mother imbued a deep sense of confidence and resolve, which enabled me to celebrate all my differences, beyond that of colour, creed and culture and to welcome the difference of others.
“The second you meet Remi you realise you have come to the right person. Her power to reach and resolve the deepest issues is unmatchable. She has been my coach, mentor and guide and genuinely saved my life more times than I can count.”
CHARLOTTE DAWE, UK MEMBERSHIP MANAGER, SOHO HOUSE AND CO.
Professionally I enjoyed an 11 year career in the City where for the most part I worked for Goldman Sachs. Rising quickly through the ranks I led a team that raised multiple billions in capital for global companies. Subsequently, I went on to run the same capital markets syndicate business globally for Renaissance Capital.
In late 2008, I was voted one of the Top 100 influential women in European Finance and also named one of Financial News 100 rising stars. During that 11 year period, due to my love of food and dining with my community, I also co-founded The Palmerston, an award-winning London Gastro Pub, now in its 14th year.
So why become a mentor and life coach to women of power?
Well, there’s no doubt that humans have always fascinated me, so much so I went on to study them. I have a BA in Sociology and Anthropology and a Masters in Social Policy and Social Research from the London School of Economics.
But it took a much sadder turn of events to push me over the line and connect me with my deep desire to understand and nurture others. In 2011 my first child Eloise was stillborn.
Needless to say, it was an incredibly painful and life-changing experience. However, as hard as it may be to believe, over time and with much healing, I came to see her as a true gift. She had awoken a very deep part of me that wasn’t being meaningfully fulfilled.
“We often spend a lot of time and money focusing on our outside, but the real rewards come from nourishing our inside. Remi is an essential part of my inner ‘beauty’ regime. Her extraordinary intuition and profound care for the people she’s working with helps to get you to the heart of issues, enabling deep and soulful transformations.
I’m always amazed at how she manages to read me – my emotions and what’s going on – and how spot-on her advice is as a result. It’s empowering stuff.”
Annabel Meggeson, Beauty Editor & Director, Red (Magazine)
I fell pregnant again four months after Eloise was born, but ran into significant complications which led to a forced termination. With no certainty of motherhood on the horizon, I needed to find a way to satisfy my desire to care for, support and develop others. So in 2011, I said goodbye to the City, retrained as a coach and started helping women in all areas of their lives, across a broad range of industries from Finance to Fashion, TV to Technology.
I meet you where you are. My holistic method for life coaching and mentoring helps you step into your truth and activate your power. It is this process we embark upon together.
